Our Design Process:

Our approach is centered around you from start to finish of your project. From identifying your project goals and budget to successful project completion, we are with you every step of the way! It’s a true collaboration that culminates in the enjoyment and use of your new space!

Although every project is different and the steps below may vary, the phases outlined below describe the general flow of how we achieve a successful project.

Once you’ve decided to work with us, we’ll enter into an agreement that reserves our time to complete a comprehensive set of plans for your project. In exchange for investing our time, experience and resources, you agree to compensate us for those services by making a design retainer deposit. Of course, your deposit is credited toward your final product selections.

Phase One:

Preliminary Design

This is the initial project planning phase where we develop high level project scope and goals.

  • First Design Date to discuss project scope and goals
  • Brainstorm layout options and identify absolute needs v. wants
  • Refine initial project budget
  • Conduct job site visit and take field measurements

Phase Two:

Design Development

This phase is where we finalize design and create detailed project drawings and project plans. It may require several meetings to discuss designs and make revisions along with showroom visits to select materials.

  • Present conceptual floor plans and as-built drawings from which we start to refine the layout and design
  • Coordinate aesthetic components by identifying cabinetry and finishes, appliances, lighting, flooring and other materials and discuss options and pricing related to initial selections
  • Finalize layouts and create detailed drawings consisting of: dimensioned floor plans and elevations, tile layouts, cabinet layouts, and color renderings
  • Finalize material selections and develop detailed cost estimates for materials
  • Perform job site visit with contractor, review labor estimate and materials to ensure thorough and cohesive project scope between design and project implementation
  • Identify and resolve potential design/construction issues, though some refinement may occur in later project phases

Phase Three:

Finalize Contract

  • Meet to review and approve project scope, final designs (including color renderings, dimensioned floor plans and elevations, tile layouts, other flooring layouts, countertop layouts, cabinet list w/ numbered cabinet layout), materials list, technical specifications, detailed project costs, and material/product warranties
  • Meet with general contractor to review finalized project scope and drawings; provide a project binder with approved detailed drawings (as identified above), technical specifications, material lists and other documentation as necessary for construction
  • Obtain product payment and begin ordering materials

Phase Four:

Project Installation

  • Demolition and construction work by contractor
  • Designer job site visit to do cabinet, electrical and plumbing layout
  • Deliver finish project materials to job site prior to installation
  • Installation by contractor or our vendors
  • Meet periodically with contractor at job site to assist with project details to ensure project is built as specified

Phase Five:

Project Completion

  • Complete final walk-through with contractor (punch list is developed including any warranty items)
  • Resolve any outstanding issues to complete project to client satisfaction
  • Provide client touch-up kit and gift
  • Enjoy your new space!!!!
